BLUE FIN TUNA

A long time ago in a place far, far away…  (OK, months ago in Half Moon Bay, CA) Little Chimp had received the gift of a very large Blue Fin Tuna that also worked as a wonderful wind pointer. Thinking the theme of fish and airplanes was ideally suited for the Half Moon Bay environment, the Giant fish swam North to grace the hillsides of the community.

Being a brilliant strategist, with uncanny mental powers for a chimp,  Little Chimp decided to pretty up the fish with some eye makeup, some fin color tuning, cleaning the base etc, and then brought the fish to the Annual Gathering of Car and Plane nuts at the Half Moon Bay airport.  Certain that this collectible art would be snatched up, the Chimp put a price and phone number on the fish, and yes the price was probably less per pound than fresh tuna, sorry collectors.  The plan was to sell the fish to raise some funds for materials to sponsor more art work.  The chimp figured, as chimps do not, that if the fish was still there upon his return he would then adorn the countryside with a wind vane.

Upon his return, the fish was still basking in the wind in all its glory.  So the Chimp began disassembling the display and preparing for departure, when a curious passerby asked what was going to happen to the fish.  The Chimp explained the fish was on his way out to be displayed for all to enjoy.  The curious passerby asked if he could have the fish?  The anatomically correct Chimp quickly and cleverly asked, “depends, what are you going to do with it?”  In chimp language of course.

To his glee the Chimp was told (to protect his identity we will use titles instead of names) “I am the VP of the Western Automotive Journalists, there is a show this week and I would like to display this as it is the most awsome piece of automotive art I have ever seen”.  Quick to be impressed with the clever story and big names and titles, the Chimp gleefully accepted the offer to trade the Fish in exchange for a picture and follow up story (along with some chimp treats).  To add to the Chimp’s gleeful enjoyment, the reporter had a brand new, giant, Top of the line Japanese SUV flaunting full leather and ten miles on it, that he wanted to load the fish into.  The Chimp was laughing with glee as he watched a huge SUV with three reporters and a ten foot fish in it drive off into the sunset.

The Chimp is still awaiting updates as to the fish’s adventure, and subsequent story of what ever happened to the Blue Fin Tuna.  Perhaps the fish ended up with a picture in a Car Magazine somewhere.  If anyone has an update to the story, please do share.
